Wyclef Jean, Musical Extraordinaire, Slated for Whitaker Center Performance in February
I practically fainted when I found out Wyclef Jean was coming to Whitaker Center; Clef, like, founding member of the Fugees, child prodigy from Haiti who immigrated to New Jersey, featured artist on Destiny Child’s No, No, No and Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie? Like I said… practically fainted.
Did you know that according to the Wikipedia entry about Wyclef, Hips Don’t Lie “went on to become the highest selling single of the 21st century, in addition to reaching number one in over 55 countries”? As I’m sure it did for others, the single sent me down a path of really digging into Wyclef’s music (and his life story, which is crazy-interesting).
One thing that I hadn’t really given Clef yet was the time to listen to his solo work, but now that I have… goodness me I’m excited for this performance. While I highly recommend checking out all of Clef’s albums (you can get all of the details on his website: https://www.wyclef.com/releases#/release/15043) this episode of NPR’s Tiny Desk is a great glimpse into Clef’s incredible talent:
Sooooo, yeah. Completely and utterly stoked for this show. Want to come watch it with me? The show is February 23 at 8:00PM. Tickets range from $38-$48 with VIP packages available (meet & greet, individual photo opp with Wyclef, exclusive and sign merch and more).
